I wrote this poem in the midst of lockdown, while day dreaming about a full venue and maskless dancefloor. I’ve attended many events in my life, all with contrasting differences. One of the largest differences that I personally take note of is cell phone usage while at an event or venue. Depending on the venue, and most notably country of attendance, cell phones can dominate the dance floor. But in certain venues and specific locations, you won’t see a single phone lighting up the dance floor; everyone around you is dancing, lost in the music, enjoying the moment and being fully present. This poem is a dedication to this type of energy. An energy I hope people live by and practice more of when the lockdown is truly over.
The past has room to haunt you
But it can also teach
The future feels so close
But will never be in present’s reach
Now stands right beside you
But some are blinded by the glow
This moment is a present
Sit back, enjoy the show
